Biddestone Stud is a 260 acre farm set in the picturesque village of Biddestone near Chippenham in Wiltshire. Only 10 minutes away from junction 17 of the M4, the Stud has excellent transport links with both the UK and Ireland which is imperative for both clients visiting their stock and for mares visiting stallions.
The Broodmare band currently consists of over 30 mares but Biddestone Stud also boards mares, foals, yearlings and horses out of training on behalf of clients. Coinciding with this is the Sales Preparation which Biddestone Stud also undertakes on behalf of clients and is a recognised and successful consignor at all major European Sales.
The Stud was founded in 1970 by the late John Moore and started as a 100-acre farm. The Stud’s first success was in breeding Raffindale, a two-year-old 5f Ascot track record holder who went on to become a Champion in Australia.
The real foundation of Biddestone Stud’s success was Amazer, a two-year-old winner over six furlongs in France in 1969 who was bought at the Newmarket December Sales at the end of her racing career. Amazer produced 17 foals, all of which raced and 15 of which were winners. Mtoto, the Champion older horse in Britain in 1987, was the best of Amazer’s progeny. The other foals included Petal Girl (dam of Canadian International Gr.1 winner Mutamam), and Savoureuse Lady (grand-dam of Prix du Jockey Club Gr.1 winner Blue Canari). Amazer was also grand-dam of the Duke Of York winner Lugana Beach and the King’s Stand winner, The Tatling.
